A Note from Karen

If you’re like me, you’re shaking your head in wonder at how quickly time is flying by. Frankly, my life has been a bit of a whirlwind lately, with two books already out this year and two more in the works! Though busy, my days are also filled with joy and great blessing as I reflect on the things that matter most to me: my dear family and friends, a wonderfully fulfilling career as a writer and the many relationships I’ve made over the years with you, my wonderful readers. I hope each and every one of you knows how much I appreciate your support of my writing.

Speaking of writing…my writing BFF’s, Beatriz Williams and Lauren Willig, and I (also known as the 3 Ws) are nearing the completion of our next collaborative novel set on the Lusitania. If you’re not familiar with the tragic story, the Lusitania was a British ocean liner that was torpedoed by a German submarine in World War I. The deep dive we’ve all taken into the historical record regarding this incident has been thrilling and emotional. As with our previous collaborative novel, THE FORGOTTEN ROOM, we are writing in round-robin fashion. The creative energy and resulting character development during this process produces what we hope is truly a great book. It’s also such fun to write a novel this way, with my two incredibly talented and gifted writing partners! Look for this novel (title and book cover reveal to follow shortly) to release in fall, 2018.

In other writing news, I’ve begun writing my next Lowcountry novel, DREAMS OF FALLING, to be released in spring of 2018. It’s still mostly a twinkle in my eye (shhh… don’t tell my agent or publisher!) but the storyline is beginning to reveal itself through the characters that now fill my head and occupy my thoughts. Stay tuned for the cover reveal coming soon!

I’m pleased to report that my adult children, Meghan and Connor, have made it through college and are settling into their careers--Meghan as an historic preservationist and Connor as a mechanical engineer. And of course, my fur babies, Quincy and Sophie Belle, provide endless entertainment and distraction for this writer, and abundant amounts of unconditional love.

I hope life is treating you well. Until next time…

Happy Reading,

Only the best for Detective Scott Harrell, of the Milton Police Department, for his help with THE NIGHT THE LIGHTS WENT OUT. What law enforcement official, or any person for that matter, could resist these delicious gourmet donuts from Da Vinci's!
